This week the JK - Grade 3 students played various different cooperative games.
The JK's were introduced to bean bags! They learned how to balance them on different parts of their bodies, and we played Hot Potato with them to practice passing skills as well as coordination.
The SK's were introduced to games that incorporated farm animals to correspond with what they are learning in their homeroom classes. We played follow the farmer [follow the leader] and Barnyard Tag which involved students picking a farm animal, and attempting to run across the farmers field [gym] without being caught by the farmer [me]. The students all really enjoyed these games and requested to play is every day!
The Grade 1 - 3 students attempted the Human Knot activity where they had to untangle themselves without letting go of one another's hands, as well as the Hula Hoop Challenge where they had to move a hula hoop around the circle without letting go of each others' hands. We also played Mission Impossible and Garbage Ball to focus on cooperation, teamwork and responsibility.
Since all of the classes did very well this week, they were awarded with "Fun Friday" today which allowed them to choose which games we played!
I am looking forward to another successful week and wrapping up our cooperative games unit in the next two weeks!
