Another successful week at SJA!

This week, the JK's & SK's loved playing Red Light Green Light and Freeze Dance which enhances their listening skills as well as their creativity. It is definitely a favourite activity amongst the kindergartens!
The Grade 1s, 2s, and 3s enjoyed playing Ship-To-Shore, Octopus, Freeze Dance and Dance Dance Run which allowed them to work on their sportsmanship, communication and listening skills.
On Wednesday and Thursday, I was away at camp with the grade 7s and 8s so the students spent their time with our supply teacher. They all enjoyed the cooperative games they played with her [octopus, What time is it Mr. Wolf, Ship-to-Shore and Freeze Dance).
On Friday, the JKs to Grade 6 all participated in the annual Terry Fox run which was organized by the Phys Ed department. As a result, we did not have a formal class today in the gym but I got to see all the students running around the turf field, gaining house points for every lap they completed!
Next week, not only are we playing an entirely new set of cooperative games each day but I am also implementing a positive behaviour reward system that follows our PE rules. It is called STARS (Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Active, Respect, Safety). If students display 2 or more of these attributes every day, they will receive a star. If they have acquired 2 or more stars by the end of the week, they will be rewarded with Fun Friday (students get to choose which game/activity is played).
Looking forward to next week! :)
