Hello and Welcome!

Hello SJA students and parents and welcome back to St. Jude’s for another exciting school year!

I hope everyone had a fun and exciting summer vacation. My name is Miss. Vasconcelos and this will be my first year teaching at St. Jude’s Academy. I am very excited to be taking on the role of the Health and Physical Education teacher for JK to Grade 3 students. In our Phys-Ed classes, we will be playing cooperative games to build relationships with our peers, learning elements of dance and gymnastics, as well as exploring components of Olympic games and Track and Field events.

Now that you know a little bit about how our classes will work this year, let me tell you about myself. I am a graduate of Brock University where I completed my Concurrent Education Degree in June of 2019. Physical Education has always been a large part of my life and I have experience in many different sports. Swimming, gymnastics, and soccer were my sports of choice at a young age followed by lifeguarding, field hockey and rugby throughout high school. I then found employment opportunities as a soccer coach in Halton during University. With my extensive sports background, I am looking forward to bringing my skills and ideas to our physical education classes and allowing our SJA students to have the best possible experiences.

I will also be collaborating with homeroom teachers in various units throughout the year.

A NOTE FROM THE LIBRARIAN, MS. HAYWARD
Hello!  I hope everyone has had a great summer and is excited for back to school. I am looking forward to a great third year in the St. Jude's Academy Library.
We accomplished a lot last year in the library.  We cataloged over 2,300 books in our collection.  We had successful Recess Readers sessions. We started out LIT Club (library helpers). Our Enchanted Forest Book Fair was a huge success allowing us to get over $2,400 worth of new books and resources for the library.  The Library also held some fun contests. And, of course, we checked out a lot of books for the voracious readers at SJA.
I hope to continue all these things and more.
Please check out (and follow) the library blog at www.sjslibrary.wordoress.com for all things library and literacy related. See you soon!
